invalidate the Insurance Policy and render the attached

property not only valueless in event of acident but risk its holders incurring heavy liability to the opposing party

should an accident occur.

2. In a judgment made in January, 1926 by his Lordship, Sir

Henry Gollan, Kt., in the Supreme Court, the entire crew of the "Ling Nam" are entitled to maintenance and detention money until such time as their claims for wages are settled.

Having in mind the numerous previous occasions where procedure has been followed in accordance with the foregoing, the following steps were taken:-

1A. The principal creditors, Messrs. The Hong Kong, Whampoa

Dock Coy. and the Asiatic Petroleum Coy were approached and in view of the Supreme Court and/or the Head Bailiff having no funds with which to carry out the Crown Crders, as out- lined in paragraph 1, page 1, agreed to supply monetary relief to the Chinese crew to the extent of one month's

wages and to provide free of charge, the shelter of Aberdeen Drydock in order to ensure the safety of the venture and this in view of strike conditions then ruling.

This was accepted with the knowledge and acquiesence of the Deputy Registrar, then acting Registrar and on the complete understanding by all concerned that all expenditure by the said creditors became a first charge on the estate after sale of sale. This is to say that the Supreme Court in the person of the Head Bailiff was finan- ced by the aforesaid creditors on the Court's undertaking. 24. There followed the necessity for maintenance of the Master

and Crew, who, apart from their legal right to remain and be maintained, were necessary to prevent delapidation or fire and thereby big loss of value by carrying out the

ordinary methods of ship upkeep.
